About Rainbow Pages

The ValleyRainbowPages.com now known as Rainbow Pages, began in 1999 with our own hunt for a Sacramento-based lawyer who was gay-friendly. Our long and circuitous search left us with many tales of similar situations from others in the community, but relatively few tangible results. We saw there was a great need for a directory of GLBT-owned and GLBT-friendly businesses in the Greater Sacramento Valley, and set out to create our site.

Over the years we have grown from a small website into a full-color annual directory distributed at locations throughout the Sacramento Valley and Reno. We are now expanding to the Central California and South Bay, where we strive to help and support local business. In the process we have earned much praise, including three consecutive awards for “Best Website” from the Sacramento News & Review readers.

In addition to our distribution locations, we pass out thousands of books in person at local pride events, starting with Sacramento Gay Pride and San Jose Pride in June. These are the first major events in Northern California, and the first day of distribution for our most recent editions. We have increased our distribution along with our growth, into the East Bay and South Bay.

We are proud to help members and friends of the community connect with services, businesses and organizations where they can feel comfortable and welcomed. Our work has led to an increase in awareness and presence of the gay community in all of Northern California and Reno, and we hope it has encouraged more people and businesses to be open-minded.

Although the name Valley Rainbow Pages has changed to Rainbow Pages, we will live up to the highest standards that Valley Rainbow Pages has set over the years.
